I Lost SOOOOO Much

This is the understatement of the century bunnies… I am so angry at myself, and just so frustrated by what the last couple of days has taken to get myself up and running again. And you wanna know what the worst is- there was absolutely no reason for it!! No new downloads or programs or additions, nothing wierd, nothing unusual… AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRGGGHHHHHHH!!!!! I lost at least two stories that I’ve been working on, including what I’d noted about mine and Damien’s ADHD journey to date. And that’s a lot to try and remember. I lost SO many photographs that I had not yet saved to CD. I lost so much stuff that I still want to blog about- I keep snippets of thoughts and ideas and parts of new posts stashed on my laptop so that if I’m having a “slow” day I can haul one of them out… now they’re all gone! All my ideas for my wedding planning blog- gone. All my ideas for my road hog (photo blog) page- gone. All my ideas for my confessions page- gone. It’s actually quite incredible how much stuff was on here.

On Wailing And Gnashing Of Teeth

Yesterday, being Sunday, and with “it” knowing that I had shite-load of work to do come Monday… my laptop crashed.
Fell over.
Melted down.
Decided it needed a holiday.
Pick one- they all fit!
I lost everything. Yes- EVERYTHING!!! Stories I have been working on, photographs, my budget… not much work stuff because that gets backed up on a regular basis and I deliberately don’t keep work stuff on my laptop for fear of losing it and having to redo it all- but there is some I am going to have to do over. I also lost my timesheets for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and now I have to try and remember what the hell I did for those three days! I am most upset about my photographs though. I have a lot of them on CD at home, but not all of them, and the more I think about what has happened, the more I realise how much I have lost! It’s heartbreaking!
So, much swearing and crying has gone on today (okay, not really crying- but I wanted to) as I tried to salvage something from the fried hard drive (unsuccessfully) and then spent the rest of the day attempting to reload the fried hard drive (also unsuccessfully), then buying a new hard-drive and then loading everything on the new one.
I am now quickly posting from work because I won’t be able to post from home until I complete the re-installation process of everything I need and use everyday. Including my 3G internet connection system, my phone system and my camera software. This is going to take a while. So be patient with me bunnies… I will no doubt let you all know when I’m back up and running at full speed again…

And the Oscar Goes To…

I’m curious, do you have a favourite director, or do you choose your movies based on the actors? I must admit to a penchant for Brad Pitt, Nicolas Cage, Joaquin Phoenix and Angelina Jolie… but when it comes to the inimitable Tim Burton- he tops my list! I was watching Mars Attacks! tonight on TV, and it got me thinking about my other favourite movies. So here’s a list of my favourite Burton movies… which is coincidentally very close to my favourite top ten movies…
Beetlejuice (1988)
Sleepy Hollow (1999)
Corpse Bride (2005)
The Nightmare before Christmas (1993)
Mars Attacks! (1996)
Edward Scissorhands (1990)
Charlie & the Chocolate Factory (2005)
Batman (1989)
Batman Returns (1992)
My other favourite director is the incomparable Quentin Tarantino but I’ll talk about him another day. So what’s your favourite Tim Burton movie- do you even like them?

Ag Shame!

Taxi had to have ALL his teeth pulled except his canines and incisors. The vet said they were all loose- even the bottom ones and there was nothing he could do to save them. Poor Taxi was still groggy and wobbly when I brought him home yesterday afternoon but he was determined to say hello to Grampa Scratchy and Greebo and make sure nothing had changed while he was away! So he’ll be on soft foods only- maybe eventually he’ll be able to manage the smaller dry food pellets- the vet said there have been cats sans teeth who simply swallow the smaller ones whole- but I’ll have to watch him and see if he can eventually learn to handle them. The problem is that the soft tinned foods are a lot more expensive than the dry pellets and a cat who can only eat them needs a substantial amount. Before, I was only buying one box of single serving pouches every other month because they only got half a pouch each as a treat.
I’m very happy to have him home, but I’m very sad he had to lose his teeth!
