Christmas Prep…

I got this one emailed to me- but I see Jeanette’s done it too!

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? I like both- with lots of ribbons and bows and shiny stuff!
2. Real tree or Artificial? An artificial tree please, much easier to clean up and pack away after Christmas… and I may not be a member of Greenpeace or anything, but cutting down a perfectly healthy tree so it can die in my living room is so not my idea of being eco-friendly!
3. When do you put up the tree? December 1st, and this stems from when Damien was little and wanted to put it up as soon as the shops had their decorations out!
4. When do you take the tree down? Just after New Year, usually before the knucklehead goes back to school.
5. Do you like eggnog? I’ve never tasted it, so I dunno…
6. Favorite gift received as a child? One year- I think it was the early 1980s- hard cover comic book “annuals” were all the rage and we got given a bundle of them each! We read them over and over again for years after that!
7. Hardest person to buy for? Sheesh, I dunno…I think everyone is hard to shop for if you really start looking for something you think they will love. Unless they give you a list of what they would like…
9. Do you have a nativity scene? Nope
10. Mail or email Christmas cards? I used to mail them and hand them out… but people don’t reciprocate much anymore and I stopped doing it. Now I email and text messages instead.
11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? I have no idea- I don’t think I’ve ever received a shitty one!
12. Favorite Christmas Movie? Tim Burton’s “A Nightmare Before Christmas”
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? When I have the money to do so…
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Heh heh, probably- I can’t remember specifics though!
15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? I honestly could not pick a favourite- I eat anything and everything and Christmas is always such fun! Cookies, nuts, sweets, puddings… there’s so much to choose from!
16. Lights on the tree? Not nearly enough ever!
17. Favorite Christmas song? I have a 5FM compilation CD released in 2002, called “
The Santa Sessions”. It’s a collection of old and new Christmas songs redone by South African musicians (back when 5FM was still a rock station) that Damien and I both like to listen to!
18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Well, this year we’re taking a holiday, but for most of my working life I worked right through it!
19. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeers? Erm… I know a few names, but I’m not even sure how many there are, so that’s probably a “no”.
20. Angel on the tree top or a star? We have an angel with a star-like thing around her, soooo… both?
21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or Christmas day? It depends where we are. With us being so many, our Christmases are often split between immediate family and family-in-law, seeing one lot on Christmas Eve and the others on Christmas day.
22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? It used to be that I was the only one working… now, I dunno, I haven’t thought about it. Perhaps people not answering invitations properly?
23. Favorite ornament theme or colour? I don’t have a colour preference- and my Christmas tree has always been covered in every kind of decoration in every colour… but I do have a bit of a penchant for the round Christmas baubles.
24. Favorite for Christmas dinner? One I don’t have to cook, LOL! For a few years, our family went to a restaurant for Christmas lunch and it was so cool! The kids could have burgers if they wanted to as there was never a set menu, and there was no cooking or cleaning up, and if we wanted to get together afterwards for some more visiting we did so- if you didn’t want to you went home.
25. What do you want for Christmas this year? Now THAT’S a long list, LOL! There’s everything from books to DVDs on that list right along with jewellery and furniture and awesome goodies I never get around to buying myself… BUT- we as a family don’t do Christmas gifts for anyone who’s out of school. You can buy something for your significant other and your own kids, but buying for all your siblings, parents, cousins, aunts, uncles and so forth is not on. And this year,
my Glugs and I are not buying each other Christmas presents because we’re going on an awesome holiday instead!

  1. I love hearing about other people’s Christmas traditions. TSC’s family doesn’t have any, so I’m forcing him to adopt all of my family’s 😉

  2. Hi There!!

    Remember me? lol.
