I was given no less than 4 new books last month, bunnies!
I’m sorely pissed at Postnet though, because they arrived on December 19th and they didn’t give me any notification- it took a phone call to the Postnet branch where we have our postbox to find out the 2 packages were there- and then when I went back there were still no parcel slips, which meant we had to go inside again and they had to go through their books to find the two tracking numbers!
I have emailed some polite feedback to Postnet…
The first book I looked at when I opened the box is Cupcakes Galore. Its fargin awesome- 120 cupcake recipes!!! There are even recipes for cupcake cocktails like margaritas and Irish coffees! I can’t wait to try some of these… I never imagined putting tequila in a cupcake!! I’m also going to be baking cupcakes every few weeks for Damien’s school to sell to raise funds for the matric dance, so I’m loving all these options!
The second one is Betty Crocker’s Decorating Cakes and Cupcakes. It is chockablock full of cake and cupcake recipes and decorating ideas- and you don’t need to be a pro to do them either! They’re pretty and failrly easy to do. I think I’m going to do the beach-sandal cake for my mommy darling for her birthday.
And then there’s Fabulous Cake Decorating. This is the one that’s slightly more complicated, and the ideas will take a lot more work… but I’m keen to try since the “under the sea” endeavour was quite a success!
And last but not least is Twilight (‘cept mine is the paperback, which the link isn’t). I’m reading it and enjoying it too– but not so much that i just HAVE TO HAVE the rest of the series. Its a cool story, but its clearly written for a younger female demographic. It makes me think of the Sweet Valley High books, and dwells a little too much on girly fantasies and teenage angst for me to be thoroughly engrossed. When I’m done with it I’m giving it to my sister C, whose boyfriend has a 14 year old daughter who I think will lovce the book.
So what y’all reading then, eh?
