Such Excitement!

The knucklehead is spending Friday with his father. He’s very excited. He’s very animated and far more chatty than usual when we speak about his father. It seems they have a lot in common too. On Monday on the way home he asked why I never told him his father played rugby! It caught me by surprise ‘coz I’d never thought to tell him as he doesn’t play himself. And they both like gaming. And they chatted about his talent for gymnastics coming from his paternal aunt. I love that he’s so happy about all this instead of apprehensive.

I’ve given him the directions for where his father can pick him up on Friday morning, and then the two of them are off.

Hhmmm… I wonder if I’ll ever be allowed to post a picture of the knucklehead and his father together? They are so very much alike its quite incredible.

And just so you all know, the knucklehead knows I’m having a hard time processing all this, and that no amount of attempted preparation over the years has made me okay with or ready for this. We’ve always talked a lot and shared whats going on in our heads and hearts when we need to, and I have told him I am a little bit heartsore that I will now have to learn to share him with his father, and how thrilled I am that they seem to get on with each other.

He gave me a huge hug and told me he gets it, which set me off bawling even more… I do love my boy so.

  1. You know how God has his perfect timing which so often isn’t ours? Maybe 5 years ago would have been a totally different scenario and he needed to mature for this. And you have Glugs now, it seems almost the perfect time in fact . You are all handling this so well, proud of you. xx

  2. I think it’s truly wonderful you two have such a great relationship. Wasn’t able to view the previous post – it looks like you survived the Big Meet though so Yay you! 🙂

  9. No one can fault you in the way you have handled this situation. The fact that he is so excited proves beyond any doubt that you have not trashed his sperm donor or that family. If you had D would want nothing to do with them. Well done you can be a proud mama!!
