Its Turbo Time!

Our guide-dog-puppy-in-training Lennox and I were invited by HP and NuMetro at Montecasino to watch Turbo on the big screen in 3D!

turbo_ver3_xlgAnyone who knows me knows how I LOVE a 3D movie! I love how it looks like the images on the screen are close enough to touch, and I twitch and duck as things coming flying at me during the movie. My Glugster and my knucklehead love to watch me watch a 3D movie and laugh at me as I reach for things and jump in my seat!

There was a brief presentation from HP on their printers and workstations, and I was very impressed to find out that Dreamworks – the creators of many of my favourite movies like Shrek, Madagascar, How to Train Your Dragon, Megamind, El Dorado, Over The Hedge and Kung Fu Panda – is HP powered!
And I’ve only ever used HP laptops myself and both of the printers I have at home are HP.

Lennox was as good as gold and everyone was very happy to see him! we even had our picture taken with a giant Turbo!

I had made sure it would be okay to take him with me, as is the SAGA puppy walking protocol. He didn’t make a sound and we headed outside every hour or so to ensure he didn’t have an “accident” inside the movie theatre.
When the movie started, I thought the noise might be an issue to start with, but he went to sleep for about an hour! When he woke up he was a bit fidgety, and there was loads of popcorn on the floor to tempt him, but I gave him a hoof to chew on and he settled down again.

I LOVED the movie! It was funny, the voice cast was phenomenal, the animation was awesome, and even though the story line sounds ludicrous its allowed ‘coz its an animated movie!

~~as per my Ladybloggers pledge, I must state here that whilst I was gifted the movie tickets, I was not paid to write this blog post, and all opinions contained herein are mine and mine alone~~

Hellooooo! And Welcome!

Please have a seat and make yourself comfortable!
Grab a cup of tea or coffee, or a glass of wine if you’d prefer that!

What do you think of the new place?
Its all still me, just jazzed up a little!
I think I like it. I may still play with the layout a bit and fiddle with the colours, but I like it.

After seven and a half years of blogging as Angel’s Mind (a blog title I have never liked, by the way) which resulted in 2015 blog posts and 15,380 comments, I decided to recreate myself! I’ve actually been thinking about it for aaaages but I was a little afraid of the change, and then I decided to grab the blog by the veritable horns and throw caution to the wind.
All of my old blog posts are here, and I will eventually board up my old home completely and stash it so its just history for me, but for now it will stay as is.

I hope you all will be happy visiting me here!

#MTNDKR Thanks To @AyobaMTN! The Dark Knight Rises In Luxury!

In case you were wondering – THIS is how you are supposed to watch a movie! Leather recliners, loads of space between movie goers so you can’t hear the people next to you chewing or talking, divine dinner platters and wine, with popcorn, M&Ms and Coke for afters!

Okay we didn’t have platters or wine… but you SO can if you go to Ster Kinekor’s Cine Prestige at The Zone at Rosebank! My Glugster and I will totally be doing our date nights there from now on! We shared a huge loveseat with no armrest in the middle, each with our own seperate side TABLE! The cost of the ticket and the cost of the platters per person makes it a perfectly reasonable night out, IMHO!

So how did we get to experience it for the first time? Well, remember when I told you how I had been invited by MTN to see The Dark Knight Rises on the big screen? Tuesday night was the night! I am so very glad I decided to put some make up on and dress up a wee bit for our night at the movies! When we arrived we were interviewed briefly on camera, and then we had fun with a photo booth of sorts where we could don props from the movie characters!

The movie was simply AWWWWSUUUUM! There’s no denying that I am a huge fan of movies adapted from comic book stories and I have seen all the Batman movies several times. The newest one had a portrayal of Catwoman that I rather liked in that she wasn’t some crazy lady pretending to be a cat, and there was a glorious twist towards the end of the movie! I also liked the way they managed to seamlessly follow on from the last Batman movie without having to spend half the movie on flashbacks. Action, a laugh or two, intrigue, cool cars and gadgets- it wouldn’t be a Batman movie without all those things! Go and see it! You will not be sorry!

Ooh and here is a look at the theatre!

This is the love seat, with tables on either side and no armrest. They have double seats like this that have an armrest and a side table in the middle, and there are single seats with their own side tables as well. To the left there you can see how much space there is between the seats as well so you and the other patrons are FAAAAR apart!

And the theatre is a small one, it only holds 50 people!

Thank you MTN! I loved the theatre and I loved the movie!

OMG! A #DKR Package From @AyobaMTN!

Thank goodness I had make up on!

Okay. So whilst my knucklehead may not agree with me if I claim to be a geek, I believe I am one… Gadgets have me doing my best Gollum impression, surfing the web is a necessity, and movies based on comic books are the AW-SUUUUM (use a sing-song voice for that part)!

I had a visit from a tuxedo’d courier- replete with white gloves- bearing a beribboned black box on a silver tray! And I said I was glad I had make up on because he was followed by a photographer! I had two crazy-excited Labrador puppies on leashes and my two older dogs were bouncing all over the place, and this guy in his white waistcoat maintained his dignity without flinching!

So what was inside the box, I hear you ask!?

Well, there was a personalised invitation to me and my “superhero husband” (with an instruction to find a sitter for our guide-dog puppies) to go and see The Dark Knight Rises at the uber snazzy Cine Prestige! To say I was squealing with delight is an understatement, and I know my superhero husband would have been far more effusive had he not had an office full of people able to hear his end of the conversation when I called him to tell him!

Also in the box was a bobble-head Batman! I’ve never had a bobble-head doll and now I have the coolest one ever! And naturally when my darling Glugster and my knucklehead got home from work we argued over who it would belong to!

I have decided its mine.

Of course.

I’ll tell you all about the movie and Ster Kinekor’s Cine Prestige next week!

On Pinterest…

I’ve been on Pinterest for a while having discovered it via a couple of the wedding photographers I know. I have 28 boards and almost 3700 pins…

And I can stop any time I want!!

Pinterest is fast becoming the “in thing” with more and more people talking about it, and it seems its generating more web traffic than Google in some cases! My own boards cover all sorts of things like recipes, wedding dresses, wedding cakes, wedding favours, impressive baked goods, inspirational photography, funny things that caught my eye, my love of dragons and strawberries, I even made a board with my birthday wishlist! And one for shoes. And my dream house.

And as I think I have said before- my Pinterest boards have replaced my internet bookmarks- or favourites- because it is so much easier to find something when I have a picture in my mind!

How Pinterest works is you pin things from other people’s boards as well as things you find whilst surfing the web, and in all honesty- there’s nothing that frustrates me more than finding something divine that I would like to pin and it either has no URL linked to it, or it goes back to a bloody Google Image search! I don’t get why people have whole boards dedicated to movie stars or kittens… IMHO thats not what Pinterest is for and it belongs on Facebook, but at least I can unfollow a board on Pinterest and I don’t have to see it.

On Pinterest you can find their Pin Etiquette page where they give you guidelines to use when pinning things to your boards, like crediting it correctly and being polite, and I would like to add a couple of my own:

  • Please do not copy the whole recipe (or whatever) with the image, the point of the pin is to encourage people to go to the original blog. And I see they now limit the comment space to 500 characters so that will help with this little annoyance.
  • Please include the original link and credit it properly, don’t pin something from an image search
  • Please describe your pin! I want to know why you pinned it- I’m nosy that way.

So. Are you hooked in pinning yet?
