Yup- it was that time if the week again last Friday. Just when our tired and overworked minds thought they could relax for the weekend, JJ once again supplied us with a starter sentence with which to fire our brains back up on a Friday night… this was it: “If he doesn’t stop that incessant …” I really tried to write something decent- but I couldn’t get the words out of my head. Here’s what I managed to get down. I’ll try’n finish it in the week…

“If he doesn’t stop that incessant whimpering I’m going to have him shot!”
Lena could hear The Man snarling from across the compound. She knew the little gryphon was whimpering because he was homesick. She knew it had been a bad idea to take a hatchling; that The Man should rather have taken an egg; but she was in no position to speak to anyone above her lowly “station”. Now The Man was sorry, and Lena knew that Flix would be the one to suffer for The Man’s choice.
She had named the baby gryphon herself when she had been told to make sure it was fed and groomed. It was a case of being in the right place at the right time- she was actually a kitchen-maid not a stable-hand. The baby had gotten used to her over the last couple of days, but he wasn’t eating, and was getting weaker too. He wasn’t allowed out of the stable until he was trained- for fear of his flying away…As she lay in her sleeping space that night- close enough to hear Flix crying all night- a plan began to take shape in her mind.
It would take courage and stealth on her part though, and she hoped for both their sakes she’d be able to pull it off.

  2. Angel, you really need to quit your day job! I think you have a serious fantasy writer inside of you just waiting to break free. It will take courage and stealth on your part, but I hope for all our sakes you’ll be able to do it.

  3. the man is keeping gryphons down too?! who is this man, anyway…
    walk good.

  4. I don’t know whose this “Man” is, but we need to bring him down. Down with the Man!

  5. Oh my hon, you have to finish this one — I’m already worried for the poor little one!
