Meme’d… I Mean Tagged!

NMOTB did this one on her page- and then she tagged me… when I wasn’t looking and I was unarmed and when I thought she had a surprise for me!
1. If you could build a house anywhere, where would it be?
I don’t actually want a house as such- what I want is one of those huge one-room lofts at the top of a building in Cape Town. With lots of huge windows so I can open everything up to the cool sea air. I want to separate the “rooms” like the bathroom and kitchen with glass bricks, and I’ll have a bedroom added on a platform using suspension cables and small glass brick pillars to hold it up.
2. What’s your favorite article of clothing?
Definitely my jeans- and T shirts… does jewelry count as clothing, ‘coz you know I can’t ever go without a ring or four!
3. Favorite physical feature of the opposite sex?
I’d have to say I notice a guys mouth first, then his eyes…
4. What’s the last CD that you bought?
Metallica’s Some Kind of Monster

At home… on the couch… yes really!

Anywhere where the temperature reaches 20 degrees Celsius or more…

Dunno… I’ve never actually had a full massage- I’ve had my shoulders massaged by my beauticians when I have a facial but that’s about it.
8. Strong in mind or strong in body?
Definitely mind… this body ain’t at all strong!
9. What time do you wake up in the morning?
Somewhere between 5:30 and 6:30… and I regularly oversleep!
10. What is your favorite kitchen appliance?
The McDonalds McFlurry machine… oh, you mean an appliance in my kitchen…?
11. What makes you really angry?
Corrupt politicians…

20. If you have a tattoo, what is it?
I have three- a strawberry, a dragon and a tribal…
21. Can you juggle?
Yup- I do it all the time! Work, money, mommy-dom, mood swings, school…ohhhh- you mean like they do in a circus? Nope, can’t do that one.
22. The one person from your past that you wish you could go back and talk to?
The boyfriend I had just before I started seeing Damien’s father… he was gorgeous, five years older than me and in the airforce. He was sweet as anything, and then along came Damien’s father and literally swept me off my feet- I didn’t even break up with D… he arrived to visit one day and Damien’s father was there with me! I was very embarrassed and I felt very bad!
23. What’s your favorite day?
Saturday! This is when I sleep late, go shopping and go gallivanting!
24. What’s in the trunk of your car?
Library books, a tracksuit top, a fan-belt and a bag full of toys to take to the local children’s home… I think that’s it… oh, and an umbrella
25. Which do you prefer, sushi or hamburger?
I haven’t tried sushi yet- though I’d like to- so I’ll have to say… hamburger.

Blogger-wards Of Mine

These were taking up an awful lot of sidebar space since I have SOOO many…

Ahem… right, picking myself up off the floor here…

So anyhoodle, I’ve decided to move them into an “archived” post with a sidebar link so you can have the option of checking them out if you want to. They’re more or less in order with the most recent one being at the top.

So, CamiKaos has given all the Bad Mommy Bloggers an F-Bomb award!!! Teehee, I try not to drop the F-bomb if I can help it, but I do use it when I get severely pissed off.

Cami, who lives over at Mommified Me, has seen right through me! I got this one for being a complete and utter CamiKaos groupie!!!

Simply Curious Girl says I’m a Llamalicious Mommy Blogger!!! Isn’t that just the coolest!!

Damien Says…

I’m saying “fuck” a lot more than I used to. And you know what? He’s right. I must just tell you bunnies, I used to swear worse than a sailor- I promise you- the air would turn PURPLE around me, never mind blue. And I didn’t even have to be upset… it was just part of my vocabulary. It was the way I spoke. It was part of my reputation (that and the fact that I drank Black Label and wouldn’t bend the rules for anyone). I got into trouble about it on a regular basis at my old job because MANY people were offended by the way I spoke.
Shocking innit?
So I decided to stop doing it. Easy as pie. For the most part I was successful, I think. I started saying things like “for-five-six” and “crap” and “blast” instead of swearing.
Then this morning in the car, I swore when I rode over something in the road, and Damien said to me: “You know- you’re saying ‘fuck’ a lot more lately…”
I thought about it for a moment, and replied that he was right- that I was sorry- and that I’d stop doing it.

Man! I just love my darling Damien SOOOOO much! And I just love how he’s willing to tell me stuff like this without fear of reprisal or recrimination! It makes me warm and fuzzy inside…

The World Will Be Quieter Place Now.

Today is a sad day… my little sister lost a very dear friend of hers this very morning. M was not one of my best friends, but I saw a lot of him and got to know him through my sister C, and he was one of those people who made the world a fun place to be. He lived every day as if it were his very last! Sister C sent this email this morning after we spoke briefly…
Hello all,
This morning, a very very very very dear friend and forever blood brother of mine passed away. He was so very close to my heart and I loved him just like I would a brother. We saw him through his struggles when his heart condition first started, saw him get stronger, then weaker, then super strong again.
We spent super special times together, and he will live on in my heart and memories as one of the best friends a girl could have.
Although I have not had contact with him for a while now, his memory lives on as strong as what it would have been if I saw him every day.
One of my fondest memories was when in his weak state he picked up his guitar and played for me at my wedding.
Our very special and loving freind, M, we love you and we will miss you so very much. The world could do with more people like him.

This is from me to M and his family:

God looked around His garden
And found an empty place.
He then looked upon the earth
And saw your tired face.

He put His arm around you
And lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.

He knew that you were suffering.
He knew you were in pain.
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.

He saw the road was getting rough,
And the hills were hard to climb.
So He closed your eyelids,
And whispered, “Peace be thine.”

It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you didn’t go alone.
For part of us went with you
The day God called you Home.

Sunday Scribblings #44

TomCat recently introduced me to this and I’m quite eager about trying it! Ever since Purgatorian shuttered his page (I miss you stax dude), thereby putting an end to “Flash Fiction Friday”… my weekends have felt kinda empty with no creative writing mission to keep my brain occupied. Thankfully, people like Jason Evans continue to give me a reason to write with regular projects and competitions, but I do miss my weekend fixes!
Go check out Jason and “Sunday Scribblings” if you want to work out your writing muscle!

This week, Sunday Scribblings #44 gave us the word “Chronicles” for inspiration. Here’s what I came up with.

I couldn’t seem to help myself.
If sat down somewhere to have a coffee, without realizing it I’d be taking notes about the people around me and whatever I was eating or drinking.
Boring stuff; mundane, everyday happenings; nothing vaguely important or spectacular… yet every time I started a new journal, I wondered if this would be the one to make me famous- posthumously of course- if it was discovered in that ever fabulous and almost mythical “one day”.
I had a diary (sometimes more than one) for every year of my life starting when I was fourteen years old. Back then I had imagined myself a journalist and saw myself winning awards for hard hitting pieces on politics and wars… back when I thought my childish opinions actually mattered.
How different my life had turned out!
Now it’s almost twenty years later, and I am far from famous. I’m not even a journalist! No awards. No newspaper columns. No prize winning magazine articles.
Now, I’m a blogger.
Just another one of the millions and millions and millions of bloggers around the world.
Now- instead of hoping that one or all of my diaries will be found one day- and that someone may just find it interesting enough to make a movie about me and my life (with Angelina Jolie playing me, and a happy ending with me in Robbie William’s arms… of course), I “publish” it myself. Putting just about everything I used to write on diaries onto the internet for all to read and comment on.
Now my chronicles are public and will forever be accessible on the World Wide Web.
If I could just get me some fame… or money into the mix…
