Meme Time

This here blog space has been way too quiet of late… so when the opportunity presented itself I grabbed it with both hands. This meme was stolen from BecauseIcan, who stole it from Harassed Mom… I dunno where she got it from, but it’s a nice little filler for me!

How long have you been blogging? In May 2010 my blog was 5 years old!

Why did you start blogging? For as long as I can remember, I wanted a space on the internet where I could talk about myself and my son. I wish I’d known about blogging YEARS ago!

What have you found to be the benefits of blogging? Cheese and rice bunnies… where do I start! Cheap therapy! Support through hardship. Advice in a pinch. Getting to know people who challenge you intellectually. Making friends. Accidentally falling in love… 😀

How many times a week do you post an entry? When I started it was daily, and I managed to keep that up for years… now, with planning my wedding, getting a cupcake business off the ground, working full day, supporting parents of children with ADHD and keeping my relationship with my fiancé and my son good, I barely post weekly! But that will change when I stop working full time!

How many different blogs do you read on a regular basis? There are 50 SA bloggers that I read as often as I can, and these are people I have gotten to know in real life too. Then there are another 50 bloggers I try to keep up with- most of whom are bloggers I’ve been reading since I started blogging!

Do you comment on other people’s blogs? Oh yes! I am a serial commenter and I comment on everything I read! Lurking never even occurred to me! if you leave me a space to leave my 2c, you’re going to hear it.

Do you keep track of how many visitors you’ve had? I have hit counters, and I keep an eye on my stats and keywords, especially for the ADHD related posts.

Do you ever regret a post that you wrote? Only once did I delete a post, but I wrote it in anger and I was sorry I posted it. There are others that I have password protected because sometimes I need to throw my toys out the cot, and that’s hard when all your friends and family read your blog.

Do you think your audience has a true sense of who you are based on your blog? I believe so. I am the same on and off my blog…

Do you blog under your real name? To a degree :p

Are there topics you would never blog about? Many! My love and sex life are topics I do not discuss, apart from coyly alluding to how fabulous they are and how spoilt and loved I am.

What is the theme/topic of your blog? I think it’s what’s become known as a “life blog”. It may have been more of a mommy blog had I started when Damien was a baby, but I blog about everything and anything that strikes me as post-worthy… and in any blogger’s life that’s EVERYTHING!

Do you have more than one blog? If so, why? I do indeed!! I have 5 of my own, and I look after one for someone else, though that one is much harder to keep up to date than it used to be. I actually had 7, but 2 have become websites in their own right- Angel’s Weddings and The Cupcake Lady.

My cats have their own blog because I figured people could go there and read about them if they so wanted, rather than fill up my personal blog with cat pictures ;).

I have a photo blog, which I haven’t updated in ages- because posting the photos I took on my personal blog was slowing down its loading too much at one point.

I have one that is completely personal and private and open to no-one but me.

And I have an invitation only one that I shared with a friend, where we experimented with some erotic fiction writing 🙂

Have you ever deleted a comment from your blog? Spam only. I’ve hardly ever had any really “mean” comments, and even when I want opinions and think I may have thrown a cat among the pigeons- like my ADHD posts- I don’t get any meanies.

I Am Going To Be Self-Employed!

I am terrified… but so excited! This is a really long term dream of mine. Something I have hoped for and wanted for such a long time I can’t even remember where it started anymore.

I’m going to be baking full time to generate an income, so I will hopefully never have turn an order away again.

I’m going to be dipping my toes in the water that is the wedding industry too. Several opportunities seem to have presented themselves and I will be investigating those to examine their potential.

I am also going to be devoting more time to my passion for supporting parents of ADHDers and creating awareness around ADHD and its treatment. Not working for a boss means I can attend more school meetings and go to more talks on the subject.

Damien no longer being in school means I have time now to focus on me… but I would never have been able to take this step and actually follow my dreams if it weren’t for my sweet Glugster’s support. I would have had to save up and stash money for a loooong time before I could give up a proper reliable salary.

I am still more than a little nervous about handing all financial responsibility over to my sweetheart… you single mom’s will get where I’m coming from on this… but as my boss says, “When its time, its time.”

My bosses are all for personal growth and have always encouraged their staff to learn and grow, so I knew I would have nothing but support from them when I spoke to them about going off on my own. I’ve been exceptionally lucky in that respect. Of course, my darling Glugs will not be “carrying” me indefinitely, if this all doesn’t work and I’m still not making a living off of it in about 6 months, I will have to go back into the work market and find employment again, so hold thumbs I don’t fork this up completely bunnies!!

So I handed in my letter of resignation.

Signed and everything.

My last day is July 22nd, shortly before the wedding. I’ll be sticking a ticker up in my sidebar, but along with the wedding ticker I don’t reeeeally need another one!

My New Ink!

I got tattoo number 8 on June 7th!

Brent Goudie, of Rogue Ink Custom Tattoos came to my house and brought all his gear! How awesome is it that he came to me! Over the last few weeks, Brent and I have traded emails and phone calls, and I sent him some scribbles I had done so he could see what I had in mind, as well as some pictures I Googled so he could get even more of a “feel” for what I had in mind.

For the last year or so, I’ve had a tattoo in mind, ever since I saw my friend Malicious Intent’s tribute to her grandfather.

My dad is a photographer at heart, and over the years has photographed hundreds of weddings and many many other occasions. My mommy darling is an artist at heart. Drawing, painting, poetry…

The tattoo is a tribute to my parents.

Doing the outlines…
Brent hard at work…
Linework all done...

Lines all done…
All done! Red and bleeding but all done!

Its 9 days later and its healing beautifully! There are a few scabs left, and most of it is milky now, but the detail is fabulous.

Peeping Out From Behind The Madness…

Sorry I’ve been so scarce bunnies… Lotsa stuff on the go here.

The knucklehead is in seventh heaven. He’s spending this coming weekend with his father and stepmother again, after spending last Friday night with them and meeting his paternal grandparents. He’s calling him “dad” already- which made my heart jump a little in my chest when I heard it– so this is clearly something he’s wanted for a long time. His paternal granparents couldn’t get over how much he looks like his father! His stepmom- I need to call her something “nicer”– blew me away! I got a text message from her asking if there were any dietary restrictions for Damien since he has ADHD! I was seriously touched that she thought to ask me. We had a bit of a chat over the phone and I felt a lot less stressed when we’d done chatting. The knucklehead got home early Saturday morning beaming from ear to ear! And do remember, when you leave a comment, that this is as much a record for the knucklehead as for me. Nastiness will mean passwords & I don’t want to do that…

We’ve started our get-to-know-you sessions with the minister who will be conducting the #AnGlugWedding ceremony in July. He’s very cool and the first session was very interesting- my Glugs and I know each other very well!

The dogs have settled in beautifully. Their names are officially Thelma & Louise (the black one is Louise) and they are very well behaved. We’ll be starting dog school some time too. The cats are adjusting, Greebo and Diva are the most “shaken” by having the dogs outside.

There are some interesting developments afoot too… more on that when I can talk about it! 😀

I’m baking LOTS! I’m having to turn down two to three orders a week because I can’t fit them in! Talk about a rock and a hard place…

My daddy darling is still up and down…

The Girls Are Here

They’re fabulously well behaved- even the hour long car ride from Wetnose was easy for Glugs & Damien.

They’re waiting for us at the gate when we get home from somewhere, and they were immediately happy with their kennel.

They’re so sweet, they “smile” by showing all their teeth when we greet them!

We’re torn for names… They’ll be either:

Thelma & Louise

Brandy & Cola

Which do you like?

Update!!! The girls are officially Thelma & Louise!!! By overwhelming majority, as well as what seemed to fit them best.
